Shirley Jeannean Howard Floyd, age 85, a life-long resident of Salem, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, in Evans, Georgia.
She was born September 20, 1936, in Jefferson Township, Washington County, the daughter of Ralph Howard and Orpha Bottorff Howard. Shirley lived in Salem until 2010, when she moved to Georgia to be near her daughters and their families.
During her working years, Shirley enjoyed being a legal secretary in Salem and Louisville and later found her second passion working with senior citizens in the health care field.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, local artist David Floyd, her parents, sister, Bonnie Robertson, nephew, Grady Robertson, and brother-in-law, Lewis (Mort) Robertson.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeannean (Phil) Arnold and Marsha (Ross) Saunders, two grandchildren Nicholas Gibson and Laura (Matt) Bell, and one great-grandson, James Matthew Bell, and a nephew, Marlon Robertson.
Shirley was a long-time member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Private funeral services were held at Dawalt Funeral Home.
