Ruth M. King, age 83 of Salem, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in the Meadow View Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 13, 1937 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Thornwold and Frances Amanda (Scott) Nielsen.
She was a retired LPN and had worked at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids and Owosso Memorial Hospital in Michigan.
She was a member of the Salem Wesleyan Church and was a commissioned special worker in children ministries, the Barbados Wesleyan Ministries and taught at the Caribbean Weslyean College in Barbados and Jordan College in Cedar Springs, Michigan.
Ruth had been a resident of Washington County since 1983, formerly of Kokomo, Indiana. She graduated from Rockford Michigan High School, attended the Grand Rapids Junior College and received a Bachelor's in Science and Religion from Owosso College.
On June 19, 1965 she married Ronald E. King, who survives.
Also surviving are: Daughter: Esther Ruth King of Salem and 2 Brothers: Francis Nielsen and Roger Nielsen, both of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by 4 brothers.
Cremation was chosen with a memorial service to be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements by Dawalt Funeral Home
