Ruth Ann (Russell) Gilbert

Ruth Ann Gilbert 81, of Salem, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at her residence surrounded by loved ones. 
  
Ruth Ann  was born August 30, 1941 in Salem, Indiana,  the daughter of Charles V. and Betty Russell.  She was a graduate of Salem High School class of 1959, and married her  lifelong partner Orville Gilbert September 26, 1959, he preceded her in death June 8, 2023. Ruth Ann and Orville operated a dairy farm and raised tobacco. Ruth Ann also worked many years at LaGene’s, The Travel Post, and The Fashion in Salem. 

Ruth Ann is survived by her four children. Stacey Gilbert, Lesle (Chris) Leis, Marty (Charlie) Lilly, and Nathan Gilbert. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Travis (Dia) Becraft,  Kristen (Justin) Fourman, Tyra (Derek) Walden, Logan (Erin) Lilly, Gretchen Leis, Kiley Gilbert, and Bailey Leis. Great grandchildren, Alaina Davidson, Kaylie, Jackson, and Olivia Fourman, Kaylea  Stewart, Paxton Becraft, Kinzley Walden.  Ruth Ann  is also survived by one sister Rena (Mike) Geckle, and nephew Charles Geckle.   She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 06, 2023, at Dawalt Funeral Home, Salem, IN. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday July 05, 2023, 4:00 - 8:00 pm, and 9 am until time of the service on Thursday July 06, 2023.  Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
