Richard E. Dixon

Richard Dixon, age 73 of Salem, Indiana passed away Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:41 am, in his residence. 

Born September 20, 1949 in Jamestown, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Reynolds  Dixon  and Ada L. (Stephens) Dixon. 

He had been a life resident of Washington County and on December 9, 1977 he married  Terry D. (Costin) Dixon. 

He was retired from The Salem Fire Department after 20+ years and was a volunteer before joining the Department full time.  He also drove for the Amish community in retirement.    

Survivors include: 
Wife: Terry D. (Costin) Dixon  
Son: Duane K. (Lana) Hamilton of Salem, Indiana;   
Daughter: Ginger Butler of Salem, Indiana;   
Daughter: Kerri (Chuck) Williams of Salem, Indiana;   
Daughter: Tabi Wooten of Crothersville, Indiana;   
Brother: Homer Dixon of Louisville, Kentucky.      

3 granddaughters: Paige Devliegher (Alex), Natasha Butler, Kelli Longwell
3 grandsons: Nathan Williams (Ashley), Dylan Williams, Blake Wright
great grandchildren: Easton and Cole Williams, Jayce Longwell and Jarvis Motley.  
He was preceded in death by a grandson Bailey Layne Hamilton.  

Funeral Service: 11:00 am Tuesday at Dawalt Funeral Home with Matt Gorman officiating.  Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem, Indiana.   
Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Monday and 9 to 11 am Tuesday at Dawalt Funeral Home.
