Mary Ruth “Ruthie” (Smith) Campbell, 88, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, at The Salem Crossing.
She was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Pekin, to William B. and Olive May (Jackson) Smith.
On Oct. 25, 1959, she married Cobert Lee Campbell. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2015.
She attended and graduated beautician school and maintained her beautician license for 60 years. She worked at B.F. Goodrich until it closed down and retired from Jean’s Extrusions. She attended Canton Christian Church and was a 1952 graduate of Pekin High School. She spent the last two years in the loving care of Skyline Suites.
Ruthie is survived by her daughter, Lana (Duane) Hamilton, Salem; granddaughter, Paige (Alex) Devliegher, Indianapolis; brother Gary (Carolyn) Smith and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Bailey Hamilton; sisters, Bonnie Davis and Audrey Tolbert; and brothers Jules Smith and Vernor Smith.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, at Dawalt Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Internment will follow in Blue River Christian Church Cemetery.
