Mack Bowling, age 87, of Centralia, Illinois passed away peacefully Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston, Illinois.
He was born on August 1, 1931 the son of Chester and Virgie (Davidson) Bowling in Oneida, Kentucky.
Survivors include his devoted children, Michael Bowling of Aviston, IL, Deann Rice and husband Michael of Foristell, MO; cherished grandchildren, Brandon Heard of Chicago, IL, Christopher Rupel of Alton, IL, Jerid Ahrens of Trenton, IL; beloved siblings, Arthur Bowling and wife Jean of Salem, IN, Ralph Bowling and wife Marilyn of Salem, IN, Connie Miller and husband Herman of Salem, IN, Shirley Bowling and husband Wayne of Salem, IN.
Mack was preceded in death by both his parents, Chester and Virgie Bowling; daughter, Darby Skibinski; brothers, Chet, Frank, Hugh, and Homer; sisters, Susan, Thursa, Edna, and Ruthfena.
Mr. Bowling proudly served his country in the United States Airforce serving in Vietnam, Thailand, Germany, France, and various areas across the United States. He felt honored to have devoted his career to the United States Airforce, retiring after 22 years of duty. Mack was a member of First General Baptist Church in Centralia. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and raising his 2 miniature horses. Mack was a true animal lover, giving extra special care to his dogs, Peewee and Penny.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at a visitation to be held from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Monday, April 8, 2019 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
A celebration of life service in honor of Mack will be held:
2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Dawalt Funeral Home, followed by interment in Olive Branch Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation time from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
