Karen Sue (Jackson) Smith

Karen Sue Smith, age 75 of Salem, Indiana passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022, in her residence.

Born January 10, 1947 in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Homer W. and Martha (Mull) Jackson.

She was a 28 year employee of the old Indiana Army Ammunition Plant and was a materials manager at the old Washington County Memorial Hospital.  She also worked in the finance department of the Clark County Hospital.
She was a member of the Conway Community Church and graduated from Borden High School and Indiana University Southeast.  While at IUS, she was a member of the Alpha Chi and Beta Gamma Sigma Sororities.

On January 15, 1966 she married Stephen L. Smith, who passed away October 15, 2005.

Survivors include:  Daughter: Dr. Mindy Gunn; Sister: Janice Buchanan;  Long time companion: Roger Stutsman; Sister-in-law and best friend: Sherry (Steve) Tabor, all of Salem; 4 Nieces and 2 Nephews: Maggie Sines, Cassie (Paul) Terry, Hannah (Joseph) Kauffman, Nathan (Kathy) Smith and Amiee (Michael) Minks and Brother-in-law: Jim (Jane) Smith. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and In-laws: Royce and Estelle Smith and brother-in-law: Gary Smith.

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Saturday at Dawalt Funeral Home, followed by interment in Conway Cemetery.
Visitation: 9 am to 1 pm Saturday.
