Virginia Gale (Speedy) Wilson

November 16, 1947 ~ June 30, 2018 (age 70)


   Virginia  Gale Wilson, age 70, passed away peacefully at her residence in Salem on Saturday June 30, 2018.
   She was born on November 16th, 1947 in New Albany, Indiana, The daughter of the late Russell and Dorothy (Flick) Speedy, both parents preceded her in death.
   In 1968, she married Carlos Q. Newsome and in their union, they had four children together.  On July 13th, 1984 she married Charles Robert Wilson, who preceded her in death on October 9th, 2013.
   Virginia is survived by one daughter, Regina K. Wilson of Salem;  three sons: Carlos Russell "Rusty" Newsome and his wife Rhea of Salem, Rodney Woodrow Newsome and his wife Patty of Salem and Randy Leon Newsome of Salem.  Also her three granddaughters: Megan Coombs of Salem, Sakyia Gale Smith of Salem and Sarena Nicole Thompson of Pekin.  Five grandsons: Rodney Dean Gaddis of Salem, Cody Lee Newsome of Scottsburg, Nathan Ray Brading of Salem, Braden and Elijah Newsome of Salem.  Also her three, four legged friends: Bailey, BillyBob and Twilight, who she loved very dearly.
   Preceding her in death, were four sister's: Edith Offutt, Anna Mae Collier, Betty Sue Ball and Goldie (who died at birth) and her four brothers: William "Pete" Speedy, Harry E. Speedy. David Lee and Larry Dale (who died at birth).
   Virginia was a homemaker and a retired Certified Nurse's Assistant .  She worked at several nursing homes and also worked in private care.  She loved gardening, music (mostly the blues and oldies), she also enjoyed cooking, especially during the holidays, allowing her to fix large dinners for her family and friends.  She enjoyed working in her yard growing flowers until her health started failing.  She was a devoted wife, loving mother and cherished her grandchildren very much.  She will be loved and missed very much.
  
   There will be no funeral or services, cremation was chosen as her final request and wishes, leaving Dawalt Funeral Home in charge.
