Linwood E. Wharton

Linwood E. "Bill" Wharton, age 93 of Salem, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019 in Robley Rex VA Medical Center Louisville.

Born May 16, 1926 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Floyd and Eva (Scoffield) Wharton.

He was a retired employee of Harshaw Chemical Company in Louisville, Kentucky and served in WW II as a Seaman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy.  He had been a resident of Washington County since 1987, formerly of Louisville.

On June 17, 1994 he married Peggy L. (Lee) Wharton, who passed away July 8, 2007.

Survivors include:  Son Timothy Wharton of Labelle, Florida;  2 Stepsons: Richard Rush of Bellbrook, Ohio and Rondall Rush of Chillicothe, Ohio;  2 Daughters: Debbie Mattingly of Louisville and Sandy Renfrow of Salem; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Gene Wharton.

Graveside Service: 11:00 am Tuesday at Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
