Kenneth R. Hortenberry

Kenneth R. Hortenberry (68) of Royal, Arkansas left us for his final journey on October 13, 2017.  He passed away in Little Rock, Arkansas with Kathy and his dear niece, Karen Sue and her husband, Arnold (Buddy) Maudlin by his side.

Ken was born May 17, 1949 in Elk Creek, Kentucky to  Edith Mae (Hall) and William Thomas Hortenberry.
  
Ken graduated from Eastern High School in Pekin, Indiana.  He was a Vietnam War veteran.  He earned his private pilot's license in 1975.  Ken worked at International Harvester in Louisville for many years before moving to Texas to work in the oil fields.  More recently, he worked in customizing privately owned jets, an industry that took him around the world.

Ken never met a stranger, would give you the shirt off his back, and never ever failed to make you laugh.

Ken was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Edith and William Nicholson, his father and stepmother, William and Hattie Mae Hortenberry; 2 brothers, James Thomas Hortenberry and  Cecil  Carl Hortenberry, Sr.

Surviving are the love of his life,Kathy (Underwood) Hortenberry; brother, Donald Allen (Betsy) Hortenberry; sisters-in-law, Sandra Hortenberry, Iva Lee (Pat) Horner, Lisa (Randy) McIntyre, Karen (Jason) Goodwin, several loving nieces and nephews, and a host of friends far and wide.

Visitation will be Thursday 4-8 pm and Friday 9 am-1 pm at Dawalt Funeral Home, Salem, Indiana.  Ken's funeral will follow the visitation on Friday.
Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors.
