James Sons, age 91 of Salem, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018, in his residence. Born July 3, 1926 in Tunnelton, Indiana. He was the son of the late George and Elsie (Hughes) Sons. James was married on April 20, 1946 to Bonnie Jean (Lloyd) Sons, who survives. He served in WW II in the U.S. Navy and had been a life resident of Washington County. He was a retired employee of the old Smith Cabinet Manufacturing Company, retiring after 44 years. He was a member of the West Side Baptist Church and was a minister of the gospel.
He is survived by: His wife Bonnie; Daughter: Marquita (John) Myers of Hardinsburg; Son: Chris J. Sons of Salem; Brother: Ronnie (Phyllis) Sons of Campbellsburg; 2 granddaughters: Amelia (Rick) Voyles of Salem and Lora Sons of Hardinsburg and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Alfred & John and 5 sisters: Fern, Bonnie, Mildred, Louise & Roberta.
Visitation: 2 to 6 pm Sunday and after 9 am Monday.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am Monday at Dawalt Funeral Home.
Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
