Betty Mason Obituary

Betty Jean (Blaize) Mason was born January 13, 1925 in Oakland City, Indiana.  Her parents were Randall and Dale (Battrum) Blaize.

She grew up in Oakland City and after graduating from Oakland City High School, went to work for an insurance agent, then on to be a teller at a local bank.  This was the beginning of her career, handling numbers and finances.  She was the treasurer for the South West Indiana District Church and Missionary Society.

Betty married Edward Mason in 1947, after he was discharged from the Navy following World War II.  They were happily married for 67 years before Ed passed in 2014.  During their marriage, they were blessed with a daughter, Diana Mason Armstrong Apple.  They lived in Oakland City until 2001, when they moved to Salem to be near their daughter and grandchildren.  While living in Salem, Betty took care of the bookkeeping for apartments that her grandson Todd was involved with and she attended Southern Hills Church.  She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Armstrong (James) Apple and 3 grandchildren: Scott (DeAnne) Armstrong of Wimberly, Texas, Todd (Beth) Armstrong of Fredericksburg, Indiana and Amy (Jake) Day of Abilene, Texas.  She is also survived by her 2 step grandchildren: Dr. Jim (Shinobu) Apple of Calgary, Canada and Dan Apple of Scottsburg, Indiana; 1 Sister: Elaine Parmenter of Conyers, Georgia and a brother: Carl Blaize of Marco Island, Florida.  Betty is survived by 12 great grandchildren: Jessica (Lyle) Neel of Lubbock, Texas; Courtney Baird, Danica Day, Braxton Day and Dawson Day of Abilene, Texas; Noelle, Kyle and Ava Armstrong of Wimberly, Texas: Parker Armstrong of Washington, DC; Mason, Jack and Charlie Armstrong of Fredericksburg, Indiana.  She was preceded in death by 1 sister: Joanne Parke.

Betty passed peacefully with her daughter by her side on December 17th at the Beehive in Scottsburg, Indiana.

Services will be held at Southern Hills Church on Saturday December 21st, 2019 with visitation from 9 am till the funeral service begins at 1 pm.  She will be interred at Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem.
